The great benefits of this milkshake is that it's easy and fast to make, it's very low on fat and high in protein and nutrients and has a great taste to boot without any sugar or artificial ingredients. In other words its the complete opposite of what you'd have in a typical commercial, made-purely-for-profit breakfast cereal. Just what the doctor ordered!
1. The best way is to use a hand held blender with a sharp blade and get the oats into a bowl and grind them up into a powder.
2. Add your Almonds and grind them to a powder as well.
3. Then add the cold milk, mix it up. Enjoy.
Tip: You can buy skinny milk in Australia that contains no more than 0.25 grams of fat per 250ml with the added benefit of having about 10 grams of protein for the same quantity. If you use full cream milk it will contain about 4% fat. Some dairy outlets advertise their milk as being 96% fat free – and it is. The catch though is milk that is 96% fat free is actually full-cream milk, so don’t get fooled.
For extra protein you can add milk powder to your milk at the rate of ¼ cup per 1 litre of milk but you will be adding unnecessary fat content to your diet. It’s only worthwhile if you are embarking on a hypertrophy phase and even then I’d proceed with caution.
