The DVD cover of Magnificent Mobility

Magnificent Mobility by Eric Cressey & Mike Robertson

As stated in the DVD the goals for the warm-up period is as follows;

The first 5 minutes of the DVD comprise of a reasonably thorough scientific, but understandable discussion on the benefits of dynamic stretching over static stretching. They make their case for this well and they immediately begin with the exercises starting with an array of easy spinal flossing movements all the way to advanced dynamic stretching protocols that will require some degree of mastery by way of balance and coordination – but its nothing that anyone couldn’t do with practice.

Before each exercise you are presented with a run down of why you’ll be doing it and a basic visual presentation of which muscle groups will be affected. The video is fast paced and contains no fluff so to begin you will need to hit the pause button before moving onto the next exercise, you’ll need to give yourself time to execute the movements correctly. As noted in the DVD it’s not necessary that you go through each and every exercise, you simply pick the exercises that apply to your training context.

From what I can tell Cressey performance put all their professional athletes through the same arrangement of exercises the difference being that they get one on one instruction when training there. Personally I have gained good benefit from this DVD and I highly recommend it to anyone looking improve their mobility and performance and also to those who want to take their training to a more professional and methodical level.

Probably one of the greatest benefits of the warm up or pre-execise prep-phase is that when you're older you'll still be able to move about without a walking stick as advised by Ian King in this video
